Recommended Copyright Policy

We (LionKimbro, MarkDilley, and BayleShanks) recommend placing all works into the Public Domain.

That way, content can move about Wiki sites (and the remainder of the Internet) freely.

While we may not want the work to be incorporated into licened materials that require that people pay a fee before having access to it, we also don't want our work to be locked into one particular copyleft license.

For example, if you created a document with GNU's [WWW] FreeDocumentationLicense, you couldn't incorporate it's text with text licensed under the [WWW] CreativeCommons' [WWW] CopyAlikeLicense.

When you release your text under the public domain, it can be incorporated under any license.

There is a potential solution to the incorporation problem, but it would requires a lot of work. See [WWW] WikiLegal's "PermitRestrictiveUpgrade" page.
